About Us
Advancement Operations supports and guides the External Relations Portfolio in the areas of constituent database and technology infrastructure, business analysis and reporting, gift and biographic records management, campaign reporting, project and fund management.  In addition, we provide budget management and human resources services to the External Relations portfolio.
 
Responsibilities
The Clerk (Alumni & Gift Services Assistant) will report to the Manager, Alumni & Gift Services and provide assistance in supporting the fundraising and engagement strategies of the External Relations Unit.  As part of the Alumni & Gift Services team, the incumbent is responsible for processing cash, cheques, credit cards and electronic fund transfer gifts to Western University.  The Alumni & Gift Services Assistant will also create and record new pledges, as well as update demographic changes for all constituents on the Contributor Relations database.
 
Qualifications
Education:
-   Two year Community College Diploma; in Business Administration preferred

Experience:
-   Two years' experience working in a high volume data processing environment
-   Experience with cash/donation handling
-   Experience in a fundraising environment with a good understanding of philanthropy and constituent engagement preferred
-   Experience with Convio, Adobe, and Laserfiche preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-   Excellent data entry skills with high level of accuracy and the proven ability to meet frequent deadlines
-   Demonstrated general accounting skills
-   Self-motivated multi-tasker with strong organizational skills
-   Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively in a team environment with academic and administrative staff, alumni, students and volunteers
-   Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the confidence dealing with all levels of an organization
-   Strong customer service skills to handle enquiries and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner
-   Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and ability to prioritize work
-   Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office and database management; knowledge of PeopleSoft, Contributor Relations, and/or Millennium preferred
-   Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
-   Ability to work with social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
