Responsibilities
The Summer Student will assist in the Stores and Mail Services operations of Facilities Management. The incumbent will be responsible for delivering trades and caretaking equipment and supplies throughout the campus. The Summer Student will also deliver mail to Faculty/Department offices and perform light deliveries of furniture or equipment for campus customers. The incumbent will also assist in the warehouse by assembling orders, stocking inventory, performing spot check counts, and other general duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
– Currently attending school and returning full-time to post-secondary studies in the fall
Experience:
– Previous experience performing physical work
– Preference will be given to those with previous experience working in a warehouse/delivery environment using material handling equipment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
– Knowledge of the Division of Facilities Management and Western University’s campus preferred
– Proven attention to detail
– Demonstrated ability and natural inclination to interact with people in an a respectful manner
– Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
– Possess a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative
– Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities
– Excellent communication skills with an ability to develop relationships with team members
– Self-motivated multi-tasker with strong organizational skills
– Positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
– Must possess a valid G license and a clean driver’s abstract
