REPORTER, SOUTH BAY COURTS

Job RequirementsLaw360 is seeking a reporter to cover developments in the San Jose branch of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the San Mateo Superior Court and the Santa Clara Superior Court for our online daily business newswire. The South Bay Courts Reporter will be responsible for retrieving new lawsuits, scanning complaints, keeping track of events in these courts, communicating with editors about which events to attend, attending selected events, and filing at least 2 news stories per day on court events attended or new lawsuits.

The right candidate will be able to change course quickly as this is a busy, high-profile position where events can often pop up at the last minute. Business or legal reporting experience is not required. However, professional reporting experience and strong writing and analytical skills are required to succeed in this job.

Requirements:
- BA/BS degree
- Two-plus years of paid, full-time reporting experience or relevant graduate degree
- One-plus year of paid, full-time experience at a daily publication
- Demonstrated reporting, writing and organizational skills
- Must be willing to attend court events
- Experience in meeting daily deadlines
- Must own a car in good working order

Preferences:
- Experience in covering legal and regulatory affairs
- Experience in covering business news
