| Job Requirements | amNewYork is looking to hire an experienced associate editor who has solid writing, editing and planning skills to run gossip/style sections and help coordinate news pages. The associate editor edits the daily Buzz page and weekly Style page. Candidate should been an expert in both subjects, and write stories on deadline as well as long-term pieces. The associate editor also must help edit the news section on deadline. Candidates must be versed in both NYC and national news.
Excellent news judgment and the ability to think creatively about how to produce smart content and present it in a dynamic way, is essential.. Experience in Hermes is a plus and candidate must have flexibility and the ability to juggle many tasks at on deadline.. Assisting in editing of entertainment pages, particularly the weekend section. Write and edit stories, headlines and captions. Select photos, graphics and other artwork.
The hours are: Sunday through Thursday from 1:00pm – 9:00pm.
•Bachelor's degree and at least 3-5 years' experience working at a daily newspaper or wire
service.
•Solid writing and editing skills.
•Ability to handle many tasks on deadline. High attention to detail and accuracy.
•Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
