The Anthropology Department is committed to a cutting edge collaborative documentary editing project that engages a world class community of scholars, community leaders and students in an innovative approach to Documentary Editing and Digital Knowledge Sharing with Indigenous Communities. The project is an International endeavour consisting of community, educational, and institutional partners titled the Franz Boas Papers: Documentary Edition Project (FBPDEP).

Responsibilities
|
 |
The Project Coordinator is a crucial member and leader of the FBPDEP Partnership Grant, and is responsible for carrying out the objectives of the overall project. The incumbent will manage the logistics of the project, and will establish, maintain and manage work-flows. The Project Coordinator is also accountable for administrative, technical and production needs and will work in collaboration with the project team to coordinate all communications.
The incumbent will ensure that the project meets its commitments regarding knowledge mobilization, and will share information with project partners, and will ensure ongoing outreach to Indigenous Descendent communities. The incumbent will also train and mentor students, and ensure the timely production of the Documentary Editions. The Project Coordinator will lead the development of digital resources associated with this project, including relevant databases, digital content, production of websites and social media.

Qualifications
|
 |
Education: - Masters Degree; in Anthropology, Museum Studies, or History preferred
Experience: - 3 years' experience as a project coordinator in a university academic environment - Experience in documentary editing - Experience working with Indigenous Communities on issues of ethnography, material culture and cultural sensitivity preferred - Experience developing and/or managing scholarly digital humanities resources and community outreach preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports and confidence dealing with all levels of an organization - Knowledge of the work of Franz Boas, including historical papers, material collections, and broader scholarly impacts in the fields of ethnography, ethnomusicology, museology, and Indigenous Studies - Ability to manage physical and virtual collections, including historical files, photographs and other visual images, audio and video recordings, and material culture - Ability to write grants and prepare research papers - Demonstrated resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative and ability to solve problems - Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office; with expertise in metadata schemes - Advanced computer skills with website development, digital historical document production, and digital audiovisual production - Knowledge of and ability to manage social media platforms as well as engagement and communication strategies for scholarly, student and other communities - Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and professional development - Ability to apply creativity, innovation and resourcefulness to daily work - Strong attention to detail and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language; second language ability an asset - Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University's events and activities and to travel on occasion - Demonstrated leadership and management expertise with an ability to develop a strong team coupled with an ability to work effectively as a member of the management team - A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution and people management skills - Ability to handle diverse situations, multiple projects and rapidly changing priorities - Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset - Excellent presentation skills (both creating and performing presentations) - Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements
